Madawaska, 5th Jany 1827
Col. Fraser
Sir
I own (sic) Joseph Michaud the bearer of this
letter the sum of 14£ current,
for which he pressed me very much to pay him immediately. I told him
that I had sold my property to you, and was to receive payment in the
course of two years and consequently I could not promise him payment
sooner, however he requested me to write you to know if you would give
him an order on some of the merchants in Canada for the above amt.
Sir, if you think proper you may do so but I can
not have the assurance to ask such until it shall come due, however if
you be pleased to give the said order place it to my acct.
Sir with respect I am your humble and obedient
servant.
Philip Long
P.S. Louis Stripman ownd (sic) me a little trifle
of the amt of 12s 6d which he told me you were to pay me, be so kind as
to let me know if it is fact

of the note that I sent to Major Morneau of the River du Loup.
Let me know by the next post if possible.
