  • David Higgenbotham, courrier and witness to the marriage of Philip Long and Marie-Julie Couillard-Després, obtained a grant of the lands at the head of the Lake Temiscouata from the Commander of Canada, General Haldimand, in 1784.

  • This is a fascinating set of maps of the village of Clair in 1848 outlining the very first grants fo land to the various families then established.  We can find the names of Romain, George and Michel Long in these grants.

• Act of sale between Philip Long and Michel Nadeau - 1798
  • On November 28, 1798, Philip Long sold a piece of land of four acres to Michel Nadeau at St-Louis de Kamouraska.
• Declaration by Joseph Fraser concerning a mortgage with Philip Long - 1798
  • Ce document nous indique que Fraser avait effacer une hypothèque sur la terre de quatre arpents qu'il avait vendu à Philip en 1797.
• Receipt by Philip Long with Thomas Pitt, Notary Public, for an amount of money for the curé Allain Pinet - 1805
  • Ce reçu nous montre le travail quotidien du courrier.  Dans ce cas, Philip Long promet de transférer une somme très importante de quatre cent livres sterlings au sculpteur Pierre Florent Baillargé, à Québec, pour une sculpture dont nous connaissons aucuns détails.

  • Cet acte de vente est historique pour toute la famille des Long (Lang) puisque celui-ci éteignait à tout jamais les droits fonciers, acquis par usage plutôt que par octrois de la couronne, par Philip Long sur les terres à la tête du lac Témiscouata.  Bouchette et Fraser, maintenant devenu co-seigneur, étaient aussi partenaires dans une nouvelle entreprise pour créer une ville nommé Kent sur l'emplacement de Cabano.

  • Le 12 août, 1824, devant le notaire Amiot à Rivière-du-Loup, Jean-Baptiste Long et son épouse Marguerite Émond, vendent une terre sur les bords du lac Témiscouata au Seigneur Alexandre Fraser.
