This part of the site will highlight all of the pertinent and available information on Phillip Long's military career and general historical sources on military matters.  Of particular interest we believe will be the Muster Rolls and Day to day campaigns and battles of the Kings American Regiment, a very special part of Canada's history.

The Muster Rolls of the Kings American Regiment

For almost three decades, a number of Muster rolls for the KAR and other regiments have inspired inspired researchers to push further for more information and to imagine scenarios that could help identify the origins of Phillip Long.

With a lot of effort from many people, but particularly Todd Braisted, we have found more details recently that have enhanced our knowledge of the military career of our ancestor.

For the interested family members, here are the colours for the uniforms of the KAR, a uniform that our ancestor would have worn for some time:  "Red coats, white waistcoats and breeches, initially olive green facings but reported as blue in 1783".

Le Fort Ingall fait partie du patrimoine familiale des descendants de Philip Long et Marie Julie Couillard-Després.  Depuis toujours, la famille a cru que l'emplacement du Fort était autrefois l'emplacement de la ferme ancestrale où jadis, Philip et Julie avait habité sur le bord du lac Témiscouata.  Pour plusieurs raisons, il nous est permis de mettre un doute sur cette hypothèse.

Nous reproduisons ici un article paru dans Le journal Le Saint-Laurent, en date du 5 juillet, 1956, page 1., intitulé "En quelle année fut construit le Fort Ingall à Cabano? " écrit par Richard Lennox.

Il existe aussi un excellent volume intitulé Témiscouata, synthèse historique, qui fait 430 pages, et sur lequel on retrouve en page couverture une copie de l'aquarelle couleure de la Ferme Long.  C'est une photo exceptionelle et il y a aussi tout un chapitre sur Philip Long!
