Free Translation of the Original French Text Written by Gilles Long

1794 - Birth of Marie-Julie Long on March 6, 1794 at L'Islet, Quebec

The first born of the union of Philip and Marie-Julie was baptized at l'Islet, Quebec on March 6, 1794.  She was baptized Marie-Julie Long.  Here is the original text from the certificate:

«L’an mil sept cent quatre Vingt quatorze Le Six de mars par (L’Islet) nous Curé de L’îlette Soussigné a été baptisée Marie julie ondoyée et née aujourd’hui de Sr Philippe Long et Marie julie Coüillard Dépré. Le parrain a été le Sr Emmanuel Dépré et la marraine Marie Reine Coüillard Dépré qui ont déclaré ne Savoir Signer. De ce Enqui Suivant Lordinaire. En foi de quoi. Jacques Panet, ptre.» 

A free translation would be the following: "In the year one thousand sevent hundred and ninety four, on March at L'Islet, we pastors of L'Islet undersigned baptized Marie-Julie deceased this day to Sir Phillippe Long and Marie Julie Couillard Dépré.  The godfather was Sir Emmanuel Dépré and the godmother as Marie Reine Couillard Dépré who declared that they could not sign.  From this follows everything normal.  In faith of which.  Jacques Panet, priest."

The first child was baptized, at L'Islet, Province of Quebec, on March 6, 1794.  Her name was Marie-Julie Long.
